Apparently Christine Culver, the executive director of the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition, disagrees with the First Amendment when someone else's free speech doesn't match her own opinion. She was seen on her bike at the circle on Humboldt and McConnell taping over those flyers with her own pro-Bike Blvd flyers. On the city's signs, by the way. When Kay Tokerud, SRNC, stopped to tell her that Culver was violating the law by putting flyers up on city signs, Culver shouted that she'd see Kay on Tuesday at the City Council meeting.
We're not surprised that it isn't a fair fight. The question is why is it a fight at all? Why does the City think that they can impose this dangerous situation on all of the users and residents of the area for an ideology?
Riding your bike is healthy, pleasant etc, but it's not a religion or a cult. Why make it that? We all like our bikes but this aggressive, strangely fanatical imposition of a dangerous situation is over the top. Please come to the council meeting on Tuesday Sept 28 and exercise your first amendment right to free speech.
