SIMON SAYS: BUILD ME A PARKING GARAGE
IN 2011 THE CITY OF SANTA ROSA GAVE SIMON PROPERTY GROUP OVER 2 MILLION DOLLARS FOR CODDINGTOWN SHOPPING MALL IN SANTA ROSA, CA.
Simon Property Group is the world’s largest shopping center developer with $42 Billion in holdings.
In 2006 they sent a letter to Santa Rosa City Manager Kolin asking for redevelopment money for a parking garage at Coddingtown.
We sued to stop this project (Gateways Redevelopment Project) and to stop these giveaways to big corporate hogs. We lost that suit. Gateways is a fact now. Your property tax dollars were given to Simon Property Group just last month–they called it a loan—$2 million for Coddingtown.
Simon Property Group has a subsidiary company that specializes in helping big companies get their property taxes reduced. So they get their taxes reduced while you pay for giveaways to them–with your property taxes.
